Shauna

Hospital Manager & Certified Veterinary Technician

Shauna joined Cary Grove Animal Hospital in June 2012 when we were first established!  She comes with a vast amount of experience within the veterinary profession.  She is a Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) graduating from Central Carolina Community College in 2006. She has been in practice since graduation and previously worked with Dr. Fritz in Woodstock, IL before joining the Cary Grove Animal Hospital.

Shauna's special interests include dentistry, surgery and client education. She has completed post graduate training in the field of dentistry and dental radiology.  She also has assisted Dr. Fritz in orthopedic surgeries for over 16 years.

Shauna always emphasizes the importance of client education and enjoys interacting with clients on a daily basis.  She was previously an instructor for the Veterinary Assistant program offered through McHenry County Community College.  She was responsible for course curriculum development and instruction in both the classroom and laboratory settings.

Shauna wears many hats at CGAH.  While she serves as a senior Certified Veterinary Technician, she also is as our hospital manager and was an integral part of the organization and grand opening of our hospital.  She is a member of the Chicago Area Veterinary Managers Association and Illinois State Veterinary Medical Association.

Shauna has a Plott Hound named Hank and when not at the hospital, she enjoys traveling with her husband Andy and cheering on the Green Bay Packers!

Mackenzie

Client Services Representative

Mackenzie joined the Cary Grove Animal Hospital in August 2012 with a passion for animals and helping people.  She will likely be the first person you will see at our front desk!  Mackenzie's positive, cheerful attitude is infectious and she is a vital part of our customer service oriented hospital.

Mackenzie enjoys interacting with clients on the telephone and in person to help educate them on our services and making sure all of their pet's needs are met.  She is also responsible for scheduling, organization of electronic medical records, and general reception duties.  She hopes to remain in the veterinary field for a long time, and enjoys learning new things and assisting the doctors and technicians.

Mackenzie is a native to the area and currently resides with her husband and her cat, Quinzel.  When not at the hospital, she is active in the Kingdom Ministry School. 

April

Client Services Representative

April joined Cary Grove Animal Hospital in September 2013.  She is a long time animal lover and has owned several different dog breeds over the years - from Shar Peis to Bichons.  She brings many years of customer service experience to our staff and is a familiar face to our clients as our main receptionist.  She always makes sure all clients both new and old feel welcome and all of their needs are met. 

April is responsible for scheduling appointments, educating clients on our services, checking people in and out, and making sure the front office is running smoothly.  She enjoys interacting with our clients and their pets and getting to know them.  April has a great sense of humor and is always willing to lend a helping hand.

April is a long time resident of Cary and we are so fortunate to have her as part of the team! 

Karen

Technician Manager & Certified Veterinary Technician

Karen joined Cary Grove Animal Hospital in September 2016.  She is a graduate of Parkland College in Champaign, IL and brings over 30 years of experience working in the veterinary field.  She most recently worked as a lead technician and department head at a specialty and emergency animal hospital in the area.  She was responsible for advanced care for pets having specialty surgeries performed as well as intensive care for critical patients.

At CGAH, Karen is our main surgical and treatment room technician.  She has special interests and has completed continuing education in anesthesia and pain management as well.  Karen is also passionate about client education during visits and post operative care and instructions to make sure pet owners are well aware of how to care for their pets after surgery.

Karen has been a vital addition to our hospital and has a great up-beat personality.  She brings more experience in the veterinary field than any other staff member, yet constantly is striving to expand on her knowledge and skill sets.   Karen previously worked with Dr. Fritz at the emergency hospital several years ago and he was excited to have her join the Cary Grove Animal Hospital team!  She has also taken on manager responsibilities to make sure we offer top notch medical and surgical care to all of our patients. 

Karen is a long time resident of the area and resides with her husband and cats.       

Colleen

Client Services Representative

Colleen joined Cary Grove Animal Hospital in March of 2019.  She has 20 years of experience working in the veterinary field.  She is responsible for taking phone calls, educating clients on our services, and everything else involved with keeping our front office running smoothly!  She also can be seen helping the technicians out with appointments when needed. 

Colleen’s family consists of her husband and son who all have a soft spot for BIG dogs.  Currently they share their home with a Bernese Mountain Dog named Thor and her cats.

Born and raised in northern Wisconsin, Colleen loves the outdoors including bird watching and is a life-long Green Bay Packers fan.

Margarita

Veterinary Technician

Margarita joined Cary Grove Animal Hospital in March of 2019.  She has over 26 years of experience working in animal hospitals in multiple roles!  Margarita is one of our most senior outpatient technicians.  She is responsible for gaining histories from owners, assisting the doctors, explaining treatment plans to owners, and performing diagnostics and treatments on our patients.  She is also well versed in caring for rabbits and guinea pigs.

Margarita is passionate about educating clients on maintaining healthy weights on their pets as well as chronic allergy management.

She resides in the area with her husband and children, as well as several dogs and cat.  She has a soft spot for Corgis especially!  Her family enjoys spending time in nature and working in the garden.

Caren

Client Services Representative

Caren joined Cary Grove Animal Hospital in March of 2019.  She loves animals, and people too!  She worked for over 20 years at a Credit Union and developed many skills including top notch customer service as well as accounting duties. 

While new to the veterinary field when she joined our practice, she brings vital skills and professionalism to every interaction she has with clients.   

Caren lives in Cary with her family, dog, and cat. 

Collette

Veterinary Technician

Collette joined Cary Grove Animal Hospital in July of 2019.  She is a graduate of Rockford Career College, Veterinary Technician program. 

Collette is passionate about helping animals when they are sick.  Treating patients and watching them recover and go home happy and healthy is one of her favorite things about being a Vet Tech.  At CGAH she is a well-rounded Vet Tech working in all areas of the hospital including: outpatient appointments, treatment room and surgical suite.  She is highly skilled at advanced radiograph (x-ray) techniques including orthopedic and TPLO (Tibial Plateau Leveling Osteotomy) radiographs.

When she has free time, she enjoys spending it with her friends and family traveling and cooking.  She is a native of the area and currently has two cats. 

Natalie

Veterinary Technician

Natalie joined Cary Grove Animal Hospital in March of 2021.  She is a graduate of Fox College, Veterinary Technician program.  She previously worked at a corporate animal hospital for several years and is happy to now be established in a private practice. 

Natalie works in multiple areas of the hospital and enjoys helping clients and their pets from preventative care appointments, to surgical progress exams and everything in between.  She has a special interest in orthopedics including TPLO dog knee surgery recovery – having had her dog have bilateral TPLOs performed by Dr. Fritz.  She is well versed from both the professional and client side of what it takes to help your dog through the TPLO recovery process.  She also enjoys educating clients on parasite prevention and the importance of monthly preventative medications.

Natalie lives with her husband and new baby boy.  Their family also includes 2 Australian Shepherds and a cat. 

Christina

Client Services Representative

Christina joined Cary Grove Animal Hospital in June of 2021.  She has worked in veterinary offices for over 16 years, previously at a practice in Arizona.  We were so fortunate when she decided to move back home and stopped by our practice! 

Christina is very detailed and knows how to get the job done in a busy animal hospital environment.  She is a whiz at the computer, is good with numbers and helps keep our front office running smoothly every day. 

She lives in the area with her family and dogs.

Angela

Veterinary Technician

Angela joined Cary Grove Animal Hospital in August of 2022.  She has worked as a Veterinary Technician for over 24 years.  Along with bringing a wealth of experience and skills, she contributes an infectious fun and positive vibe to work every day!  As one client said, “she was born to do this.”

Angela helps the doctors in all aspects of patient visits.  She loves educating clients during new puppy and kitten appointments, and sharing in the excitement of a new addition to the family with clients.  She also is well versed in laboratory diagnostics and medical treatments for cases with illnesses.

She lives with her family who all enjoy travel and are huge fans of WEENIE dogs (Dachshunds) having one as part of their family.   

Sara-Ann

Certified Veterinary Technician

Sara-Ann joined Cary Grove Animal Hospital in August of 2022.  She is a graduate of Milwaukee Career College, Veterinary Technician program and is a Certified Veterinary Technician.  She previously gained experience working at animal hospitals in both Wisconsin and more locally prior to joining CGAH.

Sara-Ann works with both out patient, surgery, and dental patients.  She has a calm presence and enjoys helping people and pets alike.  She is continuing to advance her skills in our surgical and laboratory departments as well. 

Sara-Ann resides in the area with her dogs and enjoys the outdoors including riding her bike to work when the weather permits! 

Emma

Veterinary Technician

Emma joined Cary Grove Animal Hospital in November of 2022.  She graduated from McHenry County College’s Veterinary Assistant program and is Fear Free trained.

Emma is always positive and willing to lend a hand where needed.  She is very skilled in many aspects of vet med including venipuncture, running laboratory tests, and performing treatments on patients.  Creating a warm, friendly, and welcoming atmosphere for clients, patients and co-workers alike is very important to her.

Emma lives in the area with her family and cat.   

Jack

Veterinary Assistant

Jack joined Cary Grove Animal Hospital in January 2022.  He currently works part-time on Saturdays.  He is always available to lend a helping hand to the technicians or doctors!  From performing nail trims, to restraining pets in a safe and friendly manner we are happy to have Jack on the team.   

Jack is an animal lover through and through - from dogs, cats and also rabbits.  He lives in the area with his family.
